Welcome!
About Emily Powell
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in St. Petersburg, FL. I specialize in working with teen girls and young adult women. I received my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida and my Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
I have worked with teens and young adults struggling with a variety of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, low self- esteem, self-harming behaviors, suicidal ideation, and school refusal. I use a variety of treatment modalities to ensure that each person receives individualized treatment that will help them meet their goals. Some of the treatment modalities that I use in session are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Somatic Therapy.
I aim to create a space where teen girls, young adult women and their families feel safe to discuss and create change. I work with my clients to help them find the strength, hope, and resiliency to overcome challenges.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running, trying new vegetarian restaurants and going to the beach with my dog, Angel!
Therapy with me…
I believe that the first step in any therapeutic journey is to create a relationship built on trust and understanding. This relationship works best when we both feel empowered and comfortable speaking openly and collaborating as a team. As a client-empowered clinician, I will always hold your perspective in the highest regard.
First, we will explore the experiences and events that have left you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or frustrated. Then, we will work on exploring your values and goals and identifying coping skills that work best for you. Through our work together, you will build confidence, learn to trust in yourself, and embrace healthy relationships.
